Well, I did say I wanted to lose five pounds. The universe provideth, but never in the way you expect.

After my birthday, I recuperated, having overstressed myself. But on Canada Day, I was out all day seeing concerts in the sun with short sleeves and a hat, only resting while eating, danced a bit but only drank one bottle of water. Watched fireworks and of course had to wait til 2am for idiots to stop screaming constantly outside.

Thursday I was overtired, only ate strawberries for lunch, heated for supper pizza leftovers that might have had questionable ingredient quality (note to self: never eat a pizza in the dark again), and that was the recipe to wake up rather suddenly Friday morning. Thank goodness my bed's not far from the bathroom.

Sick three days with 38.3C (100.5F) fever in the morning, subsiding a little in the afternoon, but never going away. Plus the shock of a nice sunburn on my arms (I'm allergic to all sunscreens, even hypoallergenic Neutrogena) was not helping, diverting energy I needed elsewhere. Fluids would have helped, but my body decided to not tolerate them for a couple of days. Thankfully, I do have good friends: some went to get me Advil for the fever, and some brought me broth on Sunday night and kept me company.

Monday was recuperation, the fever finally broken. Didn't get what I'd call a "real" meal until last night, and nothing big. I'm hungry, but I'm finding I can deal with it. I'm slower, but I can't be fast with my toe still unable to bend and me unable to put weight on it. More x-rays were taken this morning, will see my doc next week about it.

I lost a pound a day, basically. Not the best way to do it, but... Now to try and not regain it. As long as I don't eat many big meals, I should be okay.

Of course, I'm still not sane, as I reserved a car to drive to New Jersey at the end of the month for vacation. Eight hours' drive, hopefully avoiding all city rush hours, and most importantly, nearly half the price of flying. (Thank you Government Employee discount rate.)

I would be remiss to not point out the hilarious (and logical) Rasputin parody a friend came up with.
