Recent past, recent future
Aug. 3rd, 2009 09:02 pmI had fun in New Jersey this past several days, going to the Museum of Natural history in New York, going in Central Park for my first time ever (thankfully it was only muggy, which I prefer to being mugged, ha ha), eating in a fantastic Indian restaurant (near the UN, where the UN India ambassador dines regularly), and even taking a Yellow Cab through Times Square!
Driving in Manhattan is insane. Everyone is insane, pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, everything else.
Spent all of Saturday at Six Flags Great Adventures. Started with the log flume, and that was too much for my poor nervous system. The Skyway and Congo rapids were all I could do afterwards. I'm such a sissy.
As for the future, I'm realising I'm woefully unprepared for my first (and probably only) Worldcon. I'm not packed, I'm not even sure what to pack, and worst of all... I procrastinated and don't have a place to stay. Trying to send emails for those posting of room availability in a few places, but it may be too little too late.
Yeah, it's going to be interesting. At least my toe's doing a little better, if not healing quite straight.
EDIT: Yay, found someone! Single bed, a guy same age, even with the same first name. And publisher, so more insane than I am. :) At the Travelodge, so reasonably close to the Palais... whew.
