Calling entomologists

I found this on my inside windowsill this morning. I wouldn't have seen it if it hadn't buzzed against the blinds which were hiding it. Its body is about an inch long.
I've no idea how it could have gotten inside... There are no rips or gaps in my window screens...
I don't want to kill it until I know what it is, and if there's likely more around.
EDIT: It got close to the screen, so I opened it up and it flew right out. I also saw where on the bottom of the screen is a gap through which it could have gone in. Still curious to know what it is...
