Yay Canada
Jul. 1st, 2013 12:09 pmStaying well inside. Today is not a day for crowd baths. (Also, no concert I want to see this year.)
Saw the doctor last Wednesday. Well, a doctor, another from the same orthopaedic cabinet since the one who first saw me and the one who operated on me were on vacation. He had fresh x-rays taken, and I saw what had been done to me finally: a steel plate nearly the whole length of the clavicle, with seven screws going down through and past the bone. Ick.
I had gone to physio the day before, but the doctor was categorical: no physio for a month. I can use the arm slowly, no extreme movements, and no pressure/pushing/pulling, hence no physio, on threat of the screws popping out... and restarting the whole process, except with WAY more pain this time. So hey! Guess what! I'm not pushing myself AT ALL. (Threat level: extremely effective.) I'll see my actual surgeon for a follow-up at the end of July, and we'll reassess then.
But I can go back to work, albeit not do everything I did. Good, as I've pretty much run out of medical leave. And our group merged with another starting this week, with a new staff meeting tomorrow, so I don't want to miss that. No major change until the fall, so that's when I'll learn what, if anything, really changes with my position... or if my position exists at all anymore.
I'll very likely be way tired every evening this week, but I'll keep track how tired, and see if it gets easier.
